The Miami Marlins announced on Thursday (Korea time) that it has placed veteran shortstop Anderson on the waiting list for release. It has called up minor leaguer Javier Edwards instead of Anderson.

If he/she becomes a DFA, he/she will be released as a free agent unless other clubs announce their intention to recruit him/her.

Anderson, who made his big league debut in the Chicago White Sox uniform in 2016, played a total of 960 games with a batting average of 0.278 98 homers, 347 RBIs and 121 steals.

In particular, he hit 0.335 in 2019 and ranked first in the AL overall batting average.

He was a two-time All-Star (2021, 2022) and also played for the U.S. national team at the World Baseball Classic (WBC) held in March 2023.

Anderson was down after suffering a finger injury in August 2022.

Last year, he hit 0.245 with one home run and 25 RBIs, and after the 2023 season, he was qualified as an FA, but failed to save the team.

Anderson signed a short-term contract with the Miami Marlins for 5 million dollars for one year in February this year. However, he only had a batting average of 0.214 50 hits, 0 homers and 9 RBIs in 65 games this season.
